Thread Starter | Please Help! dreded ground loop problem
Hi there, I have a serious ground loop problem in my set up. I have tracked it down to my two flat screen monitors which both produce there own slightly different frequency which seem to harmony together... This has only started since i bought a Soundcraft M8 mixer. The only difference i can see in my new setup is the M8 is powered by a kettle plug whilst my old mixer was powered by an AC adapter..... My set up is two flat screens, PC, a delta 66 and a Soundcraft M8 mixer. I read an interesting SOS article with a similar problem from flat screen monitors, and they fixed it by cutting the ground in the balanced cable from the sound card to the mixer. This actually worked and stopped the hum from the PC playback/Delta outputs so i was prity dam happy.... until i tried recording that is!.... so my problem is that anything i record from the mixers aux sends into the soundcard pickup a very annoying hum. i have of course tried the same solution as before but to no avail... for some reason it does not work cutting the ground from the aux sends to the delta inputs. i have prity much run out of ideas and really could do with some help from anyone who understands groundloop problems... so if anyone has any suggestions it'l be greatly appreciated. thanks, Lee |
