Can the digi 001 run on new computers even if digi does not "support" it?

I have been using the 001 with lucid converters/clock and outboard pres with great results for several years on my PC. It's time to upgrade to a faster computer. I don't want to have to fork out for an upgrade to a 002 or 003 dongle or get the UAD card just yet. Is anyone presently working on, or have experience on whether the 001 will work on digi/unsupported new computers? I'm hoping to get a dual core. I'm running version 6.4.

Thanks in advance!

I still have a 001 system running in a Dell PC. It will work on any new PC that still has at least one 5V PCI slot, the type with a single cut out rather than the newer 3.3V PCI slots. In terms of Digi supporting a machine I think you will be fine as long as you steer clear of anything not totally standard. I have always used Dell PC's, Intel CPU, Intel chipset and PT seems very stable and happy on these platforms. Something like the Dell Precision 670 will give you a lot of RTAS power and it has one 5V PCI slot. Other no problem machines have been Dell Dimension 9100 and Dell Optiplex GX270

In terms of core 2 machines you might find one with a 5v PCI slot but I'm not sure PT 6.4 can make full use of the core 2 processor. Maybe someone else knows if this is the case ?
