Lynx Aurora vs. Sonic Core A16

what does the A16 bring to the table soundwise?, i been asking around but i don't know anyone who got/heard one.
anybody compared them?
i know the lynx cost twice the A16, so i'm not sure how fair a comparison is.
anyway, just curious if the A16 is somewhat in the same league or better or just different..

What I'd also like to know is if the Sonic Core version is a new product or a re-branded
Creamware A16-Ultra. Also, there is now an XLR version, does it have the same specs as the TRS one?

I dont know if they are improved.
The a 16 is hard to beat in that price area and it does sound nice to me,but it is not in the same ballpark as the aurora.Still a good converter tho.
If i had to rate it ...i would say a notch under rme.

i had RME converters years ago i found them a bit sterile sounding back then.. but that was years ago, so that probably changed.

i switched to lynx and never looked back, i like the sound of lynx, to me it sounds more organic,natural...

all ADDA convertors have some sound signature, where does the A16 fit in?

a notch under RME makes me think the A16 not what i could be looking for, RME is acceptable as a bare minimum, anything under that , i dunno..

Hmm i use the rme multiface and i am happy with it.The a 16 is a bit more mid focused imo.But alone the price diff should tell you that it can not be compared to the aurora.

i guess as some level ADDA prefence is largely down to personal taste, i'm not saying theres anything wrong with RME..

i know a comparison is not completely fair when you look at the price difference between A16 and Aurora, but if the A16 could do something for me i could buy 2 for the price of an aurora that may be worth something.

The bulk of this song was tracked live with Creamware A16 Ultra converters:

Chameleon Labs 7720 Compressor: Mix Buss Clips Inside

Overdubs were mainly done with Lucid (voc, percussion, few gtr parts).

The entire drum kit is Creamware A16, I'd have to go back over my notes but I'm sure the original rhythm gtrs are all A16 also.

The A16 has been repainted and rebranded, according to our rep at Sonic Core nothing else has changed.

I have not had the occassion to compare to Lynx, I suspect money is buying a lot there but cannot confirm the real differences until I get the chance to hear both.

The A16 never stopped me from making a record, I only recently (after this record was tracked) switched to the SSL Alpha Link converters and Mixpander5 card. Needless to say, that is a vast improvement in sonics and workflow (not to mention the SSL plugs made available to run on the Mixpander5 are very good).

A16 levels in Pro-Tools?

I have a question on the A16 for anyone who has it, just in terms of level, it seems this converter like many has fixed levels, all converters seem to differ slightly level wise which I can never get to the bottom of, for someone out there who has one, when you send a 0dB line level tone to it where does it register on the meter in Pro Tools?

And, anyone A-B'ed it against an Apogee AD-16? or any presumptions about the difference?

Thanks
