Basic Samplitude question for dummies

I am having a hard time getting around in Samplitude. I need some basic help in many areas, but for now I will only ask one question at a time. In the mixer view when I go to the top of the master fader to insert plugs, all that are available don't show up there.

When I select the FX at the bottom of the mixer, I see all that are available, but when I enable a selection by checking the box it still doesn't show up. How can I open the plugs so I can work with them?
Thanks, Rick
Sorry for the basic questions, and thanks to any who patiently answer.

sorry in advance if i'm wrong on this as its been awhile since ive tried samp.
(people will need to know which version of samp you have.)
but as noones answered i'll have a go at answering.
1. in samp preferences youll prolly find a setting that points to where all your plug ins are located.
mebe also samp scans for new plug ins also.
if a certain favorite plug in isnt showing up in the plug in list, its prolly cos you havent put it in
the directory possibly that samp has been told is for plug ins.
thus youll prolly have to browse to tell samp where the plug in is located
i would suspect.
2. on the track itself , if i remember ...each track has a dialog.
called an OBJECT EDITOR.
heres the object editor...figure 3.
audioMIDI.com : Review by Fabio D. Garcia
notice you can insert plug ins in the editor.
in fact each seperate audio clip has a dialog in samp if i remember where you can insert fx.
so try calling up the tracks dialog and you should be able to insert an fx on a trak useing the
traks dialog.

try this in mixer view. one of these ideas might work.
select a trak you want an fx inserted on.
bring up the plug in list. try dragging the plug in to the trak or double cliking on it.

this stuff should all be in the samp manual.
if i remember the samp manuals are very detailed.

in summary i suspect you can insert fx on a track two ways.
in the traks dialog as well as in the mixer.

sorry if this dont help much.
i just did some googling after typing this n there is lots of info bout samp on google also.
ps..in the manual or pdf you should see a whole section on "effects and plug ins"
useage.

I'm wondering why you didn't post a question like this in the Samplitude forum. (Unless, of course, you're not an authorized user...)

I am using Sam 10pro

I am using Sam 10pro. Also I am a registered user and I have emailed there support team, I just posted here in Gearslutz because I like to gather all the info I can. The other thing is that I have been calling the good people at orange hill audio a LOT lately, just figured I'd give them a break.
Thanks, Rick

The fx dialog is more about configuring the signal flow/plug in flow of the channel strip. You need to go near the top of the mixer & select your plugins there.

Definitely post on Samplitude.com. You'll get good answers there.

or unless, of course, you get ignored by Samp Dev for months and are forced to abandon the platform.

and i thought i was asking simple questions with straightforward answers...

good luck and godspeed.

As much as I hate to say it, I've never been helped by SamDev. Even when they try, it doesn't ever seem to make a difference. Maybe I've just had bad luck. On the other hand, the forum has been of great assistance to me. Forum members like Tobben and Rich Pell seem to have the ability to understand your problem and diagnose it almost instantly.

First of all, fastest response is on the Samplitude forum, or even the newcomer forum... The devs are flooded with these types of email questions that are more readily responded to by the users, veteran users, beta testers, and developers that spend time supporting each other over on the forums. Just emailing Magix, sitting back, and expecting a response won't work (bad habits from other companies' support perhaps). Magix IS a much larger company than people expect, and they're pretty busy nowadays getting ready for the next release.

Now, make sure the plugins you are looking for are in your main plugin path - then hit 'Y' key (for system settings)>VST/DirectX/Rewire>VST Plugin path>click over to your VST folder (you also have the option to rescan here, so maybe do that also).
Once you are able to load your plugin in the mixer, just right-click over the plugin in the mixer channel, and the applet should appear.
The FX button at the bottom of the mixer is best used to load multiple pre-configured plugins into the channel (such as for drums, compressor, limiter, reverb, or whatever).

This type of thing IS in the manual and help files

Good luck,

Greg

Hi Doozer,

the dialogue you are referring to is the FX chain configuration dialogue. You get access to any effect or plugin by double-clicking the entry in the list, or pressing the edit button in the pane on the right hand side of the list.

However, actually this dialogue is a modal alternative representation of the track that is rather for configuration than for working. You might prefer the Insert section of the mixer for quicker access. Make sure however that the instert section is not deactivated in the mixer view settings. (you configure that in the master section.)

Besides that: RTFM recommended. What I told you is al in the introductionary sections of the manual.

Regards,

Sebastian
