Best sample drums for acoustic/folk rock?

It seems like all these libraries are for big sounding rock stuff, but where can I find a great library with more tight sounding drum kits for acoustic groove oriented rock?

toontrack custom vintage....although I say that for every type of music !!!

dryer sounds...and a bit more intimate.

Not enough brush/rod samples in any of the libraries I've tried - but BFD jazz/funk is ok in this regard.

That was a pretty good sugestion thanks but I also need variety not just one drum kit etc. I like to match my kick and snare to the actual song/ basic tracks and one dry kit doesn't quite cut it. Also the vintage rock was a hair too dry, a little ambience is ok but there seems to be too much on a lot of these libraries. Any more suggestions....

I think this set is the driest of the sample libraries I've tried, less RAWWWWK than most of the others. I'm sure Chrisso will be along to tell you more about it.

The toontrack website shows it as being discontinued but I'm sure you can find stock somewhere - or wait until superior 2 comes along.

Are you wanting to trigger with vdrums, keyboard or mouse ?

Keep in mind each of these EZX expansions has about 4-6 snares, kicks, etc... to pick from. Also you can mix as much "ambience" as you like in the mixer. I am using Nashville as we speak with brush kit for a folk, acoustic song someone recently recorded here. If you tweak the velocity a bit, you can get some great sessions out of these.

Just don't want you to overlook a low cost, easy to use product made by some really cool people too.

I Will go out on a limb but "Country & Crossover" is stuff you find in modern pop rock like oasis and others like black crows. not "country country" but a classic rock theme for sure. I love it.. if you have the stomach you can check out my song "Jesus pizza" in the link below and I'm using it. 24 bit also.

Other then that I use yellow tools real drums., I don't use the all in one 30 gig drum library's because its to much work when a sample loop just dead nails it for me, and I never wanted to be a drummer so samples... way to go..

Here is a link to a James Blunt live show mixed by Jeff Juliano that uses the Steven Slate Samples, both the close mic samples and the ambience samples:

We've tried to mix it up in our expansion packs so some of the kits are tighter than others.. and you can use as much or little of the room mics in the mix as you want.

We're currently working on a Jim Scott pack which was recorded mostly in a smaller room and includes a brush and blast sticks kit.

Our demo #6 has the same groove with different amounts of room ambience:

Yes, it seems you are confusing C&V with EZdrummer (vintage rock).
C&V has many more drums to choose from, as well as room ambience mics.
It also sports a full compliment of brushes and hot rods, which are often the ticket for acoustic rock and often neglected in drum sample packs.

Yes I was, can these drum samples be heard in a demo on the net somewhere?

All three, keyboard to track the song, vdrums maybe later to get more vibe, and sometimes mouse for when I want to hear different samples after the fact.

I wish the demos I'm hearing on the web were more complete in terms of demoing dry vs. wet and even in between, it's not like a plugin where you can demo it for a couple weeks and decide whether you like it before purchasing.

Do you need beats or just samples?

BFD sounds like a damn acoustic drum kit...which should be perfect for acoustic rock. You can make them as dry or ambient as you want...PZM floor mics and room mics to change the width and depth of their placement...Individually output the drums (or groups) to different mixer channels to individually process as need be.

...however, the included beat library is the worst thing I've ever heard in my life. I've downloaded free MIDI drum loops that KILL what comes with BFD. Sad.

You can hear mp3's, or better still, download multi-channel audio for you DAW here:
Toontrack

The page say's it's discontinued, but it's just out of print ahead of the new Superior 2.0 upgrade.
It should still be available at a discount around the online retailers, and the upgrade price to Superior 2.0 (where C&V will work fine) is very reasonably priced.

I oonly use Addictive Drums these days. far fewer options on the face of it, but once you unlock the sample editor, it can be used for just about anything.
