| Gear maniac | What Logic 8 compressor type to use on Master bus?
I was wondering if anybody around here uses the logic 8 compressor on the master bus for glueing there tracks a little bit, I am composing electronica mind you, so if you have any suggestions as to what compressor type might work well for subtle transparent glueing, I would appriciate any thoughts. I don't use a software compressor for that purpose but if I had to use the Logic compressor I would set it something like this. Adjust threshold and make-up gain. Max .gain reduction about 2 dB.

You could also try the stock multiband compressor. I think that one's in the plugin chain in Logic's mastering template as well.

I wouldn't do that. Multiband tends to skew the frequencies too much and it usually won't be subtle. Also it won't help mix glue. Especially as Logic's multiband is not one of the best. "Subtle transparent glue" is more a job for a broadband compressor with a fairly low ratio, a touch of knee, a medium to slow attack and a medium release with semi automatic control. |

| PSP vintage warmer
ok so if you have basic knowledge of how a multi band compressor and eq work you will be able to use this post. if you dont know what your doing you will F your mix up big time lol Grab this piece about 150$ (psp audioware vintage warmer), put it on your master bus and dont touch any of the setting, it naturally limits your mix and gives a nice warmth. Aside from this leave your master alone. bounce your mix down with the master fader at -6db. create a new "file" and use logics stock mastering setting. This includes the multi band compressor as well as an eq (dont touch any of the other settings) Now you can go into the eq section and fine tune the mix, also using the multi band compressor to compress and boost certain frequencies. heres a sample of how this sounds http://www.realhyperecords.com/ladyg...hunkaeboot.mp3 cheers Glen Pizzolorusso aka DJ Phunkae/Chunknattack Real Hype Records myspace.com/phunkaemusic |

To answer the question about what LOGIC compression I would use, Try the adaptive limiter. It's not bad.
