Joined: Jul 2007 Location: Nashville Thread Starter | IK Multimedia Classik Classic Reverb Plug-In Bundle or TL Space for first reverb?
I'm starting to buy a small collection of plug-ins because I've been using stock Pro Tools stuff for everything (I know, not much flexibility). I'm still considering the Focusrite Liquid Mix for my EQ/Compressor needs (I use a MacBook, which only has 1 firewire cable, how can I hook it up since I use a Digi002R?) but still need something for reverb. I was thinking about getting TL Space and being done with it, but then I read about the IK Classik Reverb seems nice as well and shouldn't use as much processing power.
Which would you choice if you only had one? I will be using it for mostly rock and alternative country, for drums and vocals mostly but besides D-verb it will be my only reverb.

isn't tl space alone like $400????
get music prduction toolkit,
it comes with tl space, sound replacer, noise reduction, and allows you up to 48 tracks in PT instead of 32, plus it adds the mp3 export option
of course it's expensive, (495) but it gives you a couple really nice options, for cheaper than buying all those things seperately.
liquid mix,
does it run S/PDIF?
002's have s/pdif ports don't they? (i dont spend much time looking behind a 002, lol)
i should also probably mention that i really like TL Space,... it was my first verb, real decent. it's got great presets, and so many easy to understand controls ou can really manipulate the sound easily.
i think it's a great choice.

Don't know about TL Space but I own the CSR and that's actually the best reverb I've heard. I've also got some Powercore reverbs but they don't come close. Strange? Perhaps but that's the way it is. For the music I produce CSR is the best. /Heavy

Either TLSpace of CSR will do, but I prefer TLSpace as it give me more natural reverb sound and more "space" even with the bundled IRs sampled from a lexicon. I find CSR is a little tad too behind sounding, can't seems to bring it up front. On the other hand, as you already know, CSR offer way more flexibility. So choose accordingly.
PS: I can't seems to get crazy long plate out of TLSpace by stretching the IR *without* artifacts (unless I sample one from reverb unit), which OTOH you'll get easily out of CSR. Think about it. |

i've got both, i alread told you my opinion.
but for all intensive purposes,..whichever one you can find cheaper is what i would get seeing as i generally get the same result from both.
but i have better luck with the controls on tl space, just seems easier.

How much CPU drain are either of these?

CSR seems to be a but more hungry.
but regardless they both seem to not eat up much of anything to my surprise.

Regarding your other question: Liquidmix ONLY runs over the Firewire port, no SPDIF or the like. With a Macbook, would need a hub, it's probably not possible to get it to run properly besides a FW audio interface or any other FW device (external HD etc.). You need a Macbook Pro with 2 FW ports or an alternative for the Liquidmix (maybe the URS Console Strip Pro?).

I own both and I would highly recommend the MPTK. There is no point to PTLE without the MPTK. It's where they actually charge for the software (otherwise the software is free with the hardware).

If you use a Macbook Pro its still the same bus even tho there are 2 inputs...if you really want a LM you could use an Express34 to FW card + the main FW input for your 2 FW ports...that could work. But no Express 34 on a Macbook...you need a MBP for that....
Or Go native for the compression. With CSP you can use the low CPU strip if you run out of CPU...

TL space is very neat for Post and efx type of reverbs and spaces, I use it sometimes for vocals or drums, but mostly for efx. CSR is a great little plug in, simple to use and sounds pretty darn good imo. Its more straight forward verb. Get both, and yes get the MPTK, it comes with TL space

I have CSR and really like it, but I think the advice to get the Music Production Toolkit from Digi is a good call. You'll be happy either way, but you get a lot for your money with the MPT. Quote:

Love the rmx simulation for drums!

Rverb is algo based and it doesn't take much CPU power, while TLSpace is obviously IR based so...
However with today's CPU you hardly ever notice you're running something heavy with TLSpace.

The actual phrase is "for all intents and purposes". | Yeah, but I kinda like "for all intensive purposes." Save the good plugs for the intensive purposes, I say.

i tried CSR and i wasn't blown away really. artsacoustic was better to my ears in particular for ambiences and tails
sonnox reverb is great for ambiences but i find the reverb tail a bit hit and miss, i.e. sometimes getting something that worked and sometimes not.
breverb is the new kid on the block and is very good to my ears. i haven't delved too deep yet but the tails are nice and lush.
i tried the demo on a track and i couldn't get my other verbs to match it in quality & size so i bit the bullet and bought it! it's really good
