Question Your 'Go To' VST's

Hi Guys,

Also what are in YOUR OPINION, are a few of the better quality ones in each of these categories?

1.Delay
2.Reverb
3.Filter
4.Flanger
5.Chorus
6.Phaser
7.Gate
8.Chopper
9.Vocoder/Vocal FX
10.Granulizer
11.Pitchshift
12.EQ
13.Compressor
14.Distortion
15.Speacial FX

Thanks !

my VST's are actually audio units, and I'm on a mac, but here's my list, which I'm happy to say is pretty complete. Feels great to have go to's sorted out.....

1. delay- Audio Damage dubstation, fabfilter timeless, uhe filterscape, soundtoys
2.Reverb- Altiverb, IK CSR (still looking for an algorithmic reverb that I really like)
3.Filter- soundtoys, korg ms20, sonalksis tbk
4.Flanger- PSP nitro
5.Chorus - PSP nitro
6.Phaser- Soundtoys
7.Gate- bundled with logic, or sonalksis
8.Chopper- ? what do you mean by chopper?
9.Vocoder/Vocal FX - eiosis vocoder, logic and melodyne
10.Granulizer - reaktor
11.Pitchshift - built in with logic
12.EQ - Clean= sonalksis character= tritone digital
13.Compressor- clean=ozone, logic character=psp vintage warmer
14.Distortion - ohmforce ohmicide, guitar rig
15.Speacial FX - Reaktor

bear in mind that I make electronic music and mix all ITB......

Thankyou!,

I also make mostly electronica

Thats great that you have it all sorted hey - I have so many freeware plugins that I think I have TO much choice and it is actually hindering the creative workflow.

Thanks again.

1.Delay: Cubase Double Delay, FilterSpace, PSP 608
2.Reverb: SpinAudio Roomverb, IK CSR
3.Filter: FabFilter Volcano, Metallurgy, Sonalksis TBK 1, AudioDamage, Cubase built-in.
4.Flanger: SFX Machine Pro
5.Chorus: UA Dimension D, Chorus CE
6.Phaser: SFX Machine Pro
7.Gate: Waves RVox, Sonalkis SV 719, UA 88RS,
8.Chopper: LiveSlice.
9.Vocoder/Vocal FX: Pentagon, Orange Vocoder, Absynth.
10.Granulizer: Sonalksis TBK2
11.Pitchshift: Waves, AudioDamage
12.EQ: UA Pultec, UA Cambridge, Cubase EQ.
13.Compressor: UA 1176, UA Precision Limiter, Waves L1, Rvox, Magix AMS.
14.Distortion: Amplitube, Simulanalog Guitar Suite.
15.Speacial FX: GRM Tools, Antares Kantos, Cubase Envelope Shaper.

I use to think the better the Mic (source) preamp, conversion and the musician the less FX one likes (needs) to use.

I went through that for years to find the plugins I like. That's why I'm happy to have my go to's

I can't strongly recommend enough finding one or two of everything you need and begin to learn them well. I was amazed at how much sound I've been able to make out a relatively few plugins. Well worth taking the time to figure out.....

Oh, and to special efx, I'd have to add metasynth. Huge part of getting some of the sounds I've been after.....
