Anyone get their little Euphonix yet?

Got mine today............all working ok, if using Logic, make sure you're on 8.01.

Fader travel on playback isn't the smoothest, editing plug ins is a treat, the little OLED's are nice and clear. Everything seems to work well, no choking.........

Anyone else?

I'm not sure how you'll go with 7.2, have you checked that it will work?

All the docs I've read mention Version 8...........

I know 7.2 is Eucon compatible, but I'm not sure if that's only with the MC Pro and the Sys 5MC.

Does anybody want to buy my 16 fader ProControl? as I'm mixing in Logic now.

I got mine on Friday and have been using it quite a bit with Logic as well.
The Eucon driver for Logic can be improved as far as speed.
I love the layout of the console and how you navigate, I can move through the whole session from the controller and the OLED's are great.
I miss not having the center section, definitely getting a MC Control.
Setup and install took literally less than a minute once it was all plugged in, worked flawlessly.

Any questions let me know.

Do you guys feel cramped with the size of it or is it fairly comfortable. I figured I would ask because they look really small...

Thanks in advance!

The size was much better for me than the mackie's I had (24 fader system) because this small footprint takes less space in my desk. I am missing the center section though, and I also want to see the euphonix control room software coming the the MC Control. I am getting another MC Mix in the next couple of weeks becuase I want more faders!!

ohhhh man, I envy you guys! I am drooling here for a pack of MC Control and Mix, but ableton Live doesn't yet support Eucon, although I think I can use it via HUI control, not sure. Anyway I only want it when Ableton goes Eucon friendly. I already contacted an insider at Ableton and they where at NAMM and where very impressed with The new controllers, so they confirmed they want to implement eucon but havent been able to give me a deadline for it yet.

I hope its sooner rather than later because Im dying here for this new controllers..

Size is excellent for me, coming off a Pro Control, which is too wide between faders, the width between faders feels quite natural to me.

Also missing a centre section, for things like solo clear, suspend automation etc, hopefully the MC Control will have that stuff.

Well, I am not upgrading to 8. Not with all the grief people have reported here. If the worst comes to worst I will run it in HUI mode until Logic 8 is.... better.

Question. Euphonics is sending us one to check out. Do you have to give up network connectivity by using the cat5 port? Or does it serve as a hub of some sort?

IMO Logic8 is awesome, literally there is no reason not to move to it, it's stable has great new features and you can keep running Logic 7 if you feel it's not prime time yet, which in my case it absolutely is ....

Plus you get to use EuCon for the Euphonix surface , it's win-win no matter which way ...

Mine arrived today but I haven't got time to hook it up... client deadlines.

It only has one ethernet port on the back so unless you have an hub you will lose your ethernet connection to it.... unless you have a mac pro and then you have two connections anyway.

It's very nicely designed I must say. Looks great.

Maaan... these are sweet control surfaces! But... Mac only???

Anyone know if they will ever make these PC compatible?

I'm in the market for new proTools control surface, saw the Euphonix & was like WOW.

I have an emagic/mackie control and use logic 8

i can't see what this will give me over the mackie, other than looking really nice?

when you're using it, what extra does it give you? i don't see how the touch screen is really that useful, and i don't like the lack of a proper fully fledged transport section like on the mackie... what is it that it has over the mackie that would make me want to sell it and get the euphonix?

i kinda want to love this, but i think i'm waiting for its (hypothetical) bigger brother to come out.... a mackie control with touchscreen and channel meters...

I am moving to the Euphonix from 24 fader mackie control, using logic as well.
I am still disappointed in the performance of Eucon integration of logic as it is still sluggish at times.

I liked my Mackie system and it was relatively stable, but when the MC Control is out and this system is 100% working there are several advantages that the Artist series does have.

1. You can assign faders, and soon on the MC Control: smart switches. Since mackie is holding on to MIDI, their protocol doesn't allow this unless the improve it in some way.

2. You don't have to re-boot to control another app. When I switched from Logic to PT on my mackie I would have to reboot all three units and press to keys to select either mackie control, logic control, or HUI (for PT). This was a pain in the ass in my opinion. With these units you just switch seamlessly.

3. Layout: I prefer the layout personally to the mackies. I like how you can choose plugins through categories just like in logic pro software.

4. the MC Mix has more options than the mackie extender and I think that is great thinking on the part of euphonix. The MC control is the center unit, but you can access most parameters from the Mix Units which is great when more than one person is working on the controller.

The only CON I have for these units is the slow performance in Logic, and I tend to believe it's Apple's fault because people say it ROCKS with NUENDO/CUBASE

What you guys mean with "slow performance" with L8?
Does it have any kind of latency?

the controller doesn't seem to have latency, I feel it's logic responding to the controller.
Whenever you switch quickly to MIX or INSERTS configuration it sometimes slows down logic... or when you load a plugin through the unit. I have also had logic crash a result a couple of times. I hope Apple fixes this sooon!

Hey Manuel

I, too am using the Mackies with L8, and am contemplating switching to the MC's. I'm not sure if you have more than one MC Mix, but if you do, do you know if plugin parameters for an insert can spill across more than one unit? I think the only thing I'd miss in the Mackies is my C4 -- it's nice to have more than 8 rotary encoders/parameters available.

Thanks,

Free

So far I have only had time to run it with Pro Tools LE. Just mixed 2 x TV shows with it.... very nice.

Install was a little problematic using the install disc that came with the package.... wouldn't work/wasn't recognised. Downloaded the newer(?) version from Euphonix website and all was good.

So far so good. LOVE the way you just drag the application icon into the eucon control panel to tell it which apps you use. Very cool. Will get back to you on Logic and FCP once I have time.

I got mine today. I really like these units. They feel more solid than the Mackie stuff. I am using with Logic 8 on Tiger. The units dont seem sluggish but Logic is a bit sluggish on the insert and aux buttons. I also noticed things get a little slow opening plugs. I can see it being a bit of a problem when I get real proficient on these things. Logic seems to have a problem keeping up with certain commands from the MC.

I can say I was feeling comfortable on these after a quick glance through the manual and about 15 min seat time. I still wish they were a little bit bigger. I want to feel a bit more like a analog board. I was going to get another Mix and a control but I think I will wait to see if Euphonix gets wise to the needs of a middle studio that needs more than the Artist series and a lot less than the MC5 system. IF you guys are reading I have 10k burnin a hole in my pocket for a kick ass control surface like the C|24.

Here are a couple pics

They are a LOT bigger than I thought they were! It looks like 20 channels with an MC would take up about as much space as 32 channels of Mackies. This is a deal breaker for me as I don't have the space for these. I was really excited about getting them.
