Thread Starter | Tips for creating your own convolution IR's for TL Space Hi, I'm trying to get a good IR sample for a church that I'm mixing a classical choir record for. I'm blending studio recorded instruments in with the original choir recording and would like to sample the room the choir was recorded in to get the sound of the room for the other instruments. What's the best sound to use for the IR? Any other tips for getting it to sound like the room? Thanks |

| I've never used TL Space but I make most of my own IRs. I just set up the mics as if I were actually making a recording. I put them where i would put them if I was actually using them as room mics and I put the speakers where i would put the source if I were actually recording it in that room. While many people use a really pristine audio chain, I prefer using things like tube mics and vintage type pres. It may be a less accurate representation of the room, but a more accurate representation of me recording music in the room. The argument made by such software companies is that recording it in a more pristine path means you can then tweak it later and simulate things like tube mics, etc. But it just never quite sounds as good to me. But I am also not doing stuff like foley and post work. |
