| Best Windows MIDI file player app? I would like to use an older Windows Laptop to sequence live. I need a cheap application that is stable and will do a MIDI file playlist with decent control. Being Mac based I am not up on the windows side of things so any help would be appriciated. Thanks

| its way more than you need but check out powertracks from pgmusic.com. only 29 bucks. its also a full blown multitrack piece of software with a huge number of midi features. in fact there are a million and one midi features in it including notation. i have it and love it. the demo is at pgmusic.com. but be aware its very deep and if you keep an open mind and delve into its features that are very deep it will make you want to keep on creating music. very addictive. also i like the companies upgrade policy. when a new version comes out its normally 19 bucks to upgrade. in summary there is nothing you cant do in it. it reads and writes all sorts of midi files. |

| Thanks! I'll check out the demo, a friend of mine uses it and likes it as well. Is it stable? I only really need a Player...the skinnier the better the simpler the better. I have Logic 6, Cubase and Digital Performer all on the Mac. I just delved into and almost mastered Logic 6 over the last month and I think I'm done delving. My wife sequences in Cubase and I have switched over to Logic. I have a little $12 app on the mac "Qmidi" and it does a great job: 99 song playlist instant start It gets all the MIDI data correct at the head of the song and spits it out fast to set up the synths scroll up and down with the arrow keys to the song song you want and hit the return key. Voila! But I don't have access to a mac laptop since they are Totally junk and poorly designed as mine fell apart after 15 months! Slim and trim small code efficient player app fer windows? ![]()

| mines as stable as anything. never crashes. just make sure as with any app you have at least 256 mem. preferably a 1ghz pc with decent hard drive. i prefer it plus magix music studio to any other audio app out there. if you like logic check out the demo of music studio sometime from magix. the midi seq built in has a huge number of features and i'm told very logic like. both powertracks and magix music studio cost me less than 100 bucks and i'm set with features for years between both. check out some of the free included fx with both pkges sometime. you'll be surprised. hitsquad.com might have a simpler midi file player. good luck. |
