Melodyne Cre8 or Plugin?

I've been screwing around with Melodyne Cre8 for the past week and...getting really tired of it.

No complaints when it comes to quality of edits, but getting Cre8 to function properly ie: sync with Cubase via rewire or trying to follow Melodyne's instructions has got me wondering if I should go with the Plugin version - I've read that the plugin is less hassle to work with.

Btw - syncing audio is far from the only issue I have had.

Has anyone had experience with both Cre8 or Studio and the Plugin?

I started with Cre8 then upgraded to Studio and the Plug in.

For big jobs I prefer to work in Studio/Cre8. I personnaly can't stand navigating the plug in since you have to use the host for navigation. The plug in is fine for little fixes here and there and saves time.

Forget syncing, just export your tracks and import them into Melodyne.

2) Don't bother with the Melodyne Bridge.

The method that I hit on in Logic (although you could do this in any sequencer) is
to do my vocal comps and edits FIRST without worrying about the tuning. THEN,
consolidate each track that you're tuning into its own song-length file. Finally, with
the same session open, mute the sequencer tracks that you just consolidated,
open up Melodyne in Rewire mode, import these new files, and tune away.
The tracks are still in the same timeline as your song, and you end up using a
a lot less CPU power that Melodyne Bridge mode.

Thanks for the advice! Okay, I won't give up on Cre8 just yet.

I guess you guys are right, in that there is no reason to sync up; I was wondering what the benefit was.

One more Question: when importing audio from Melodyne into Cubase I am not able to get the import to start at it's origin - in other words it's not synced up with my other tracks. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Hi,

are you bouncing audio out of Melodyne into a WAV and import it into Cubase?

In this case, make sure, you use the intended option in the Save Audio dialog (between markers vs. whole arrangement ...). In my case, "whole arrangement" usually works best.

Good luck!

I don't think it's a bounce?...I am importing a WAV into cubase, though I will take a closer look at your suggestion.

Thanks
