| i need help setting up my 003 rack can someone here help me figure this out ok i just bought a digi 003 rack too replace my digi 002 control surface b4 the 003 rack arrived i made a sequence on my mpc in standalone mode on the 002 so when i got the 003 i hooked up the same as the 002 but i cant hear my seqeuence on the 003 plus i dunno how to put the 003 in standalone mode if possible and once i installed the protools cd it says it cant find hardware which i dont understand cause i copied the cables from my 002 straight too the 003?? also when i power up the 003 i hear like clicking sounds as it powers up and the lights flash is that normal? anyway i took cables back out the 003 and into my old 002 cv and i hear my sequence so is it something possibly wrong with the 003? |

| Hi, The Digi 003 Rack won't operate in standalone mode. I don't think the 003 with console will, either. The only way this will work is if you get the PT software(or other core audio application) to operate the 003 Rack via FireWire from the computer. If you were using an 002 before, you have to re-install the Digi software that came with your 003R, then it should work properly. The clicking is the power-up sequence of the unit, and is perfectly normal. |

| You'll have to put together your sequence using the PT mixer, unless you have some other control surface to use, and even then you will need PT running. |

Hmm...tricky one. One partial solution might be to connect the MPC unbalanced to 7/8 phonos - you can then route "alt 7-8 to mon" when you're writing, and the other button that routes alt 7-8 instead of the main inputs 7/8 when you're ready to bounce. It's a bit of a comprimise though - I wouldn't have thought it's the way to get the best quality from your system. Personally, I'd just have a simple PT session set up that routes the MPC to the monitors, and work that way. The 003 doesn't work the way you're used to, so you've got to find an alternative. | |
