Thread Starter | mic pre into audio interface? worth doing?
Would it be worth running a better mic preamp into my audio interface (konnekt 8), even though the interface already has mic pres, or would the extra preamp lose its sound quality by going through the interface before going into the computer? This sounds like a stupid question but I've never used a preamp so I have no clue, and I just got the konnekt 8, which has already improved the sound going into my computer, but I was wondering if running something between that and my mic would be an even better idea or just be pointless.

I do it all the time with the konnekt. Use the inserts in back which bypass the konnekt pre's. Make sure the "line in" button is pressed in and your good to go. Good cables help too. All mic pre's have to go through some kind of a/d conversion and most don't have their own.
