Question ProTools: copy a send (w/send level intact) from 1 to 30 audio tracks?

Is there a one step (or simple) way to copy a send (with send level intact) from one audio track to 30, simultaneously?

there must be.....

i'm just being a dumb ass.

thanks!!!

select all tracks you want the send on.

hold shift and option and choose the send... it will create it for all the tracks you have selected.

go to the edit screen and choose send level from the drop down (you will see volume, pan, mute, etc.). choose it from the track you want to copy the automation from.

hit return (to bring to the beginning), then option-shift-return will select the entire audio region length of the send level you want to copy. copy it.

group all 30 tracks, go to send level on them also and paste in the automation you have copied.

hope that's what you're talking about.

cheers.

I'll have to try this.... thanks

when I want to do this is before there is automation.... and I still want to be able to go in and change send levels on each audio track.... and not be fighting any automation- so I don't want to insert any breakpoints.....

fyi....

thanks tho - i'll check it out

ah, you don't want to fight the automation. well sometimes there has to be a compromise, especially with pro tools.

actually, you won't have to fight any automation. if you are just using this as a general starting point, just make sure there are no breakpoints in the send level that you are copying... that's the only way you'll get automation.

and you you can just do the level tweaks on each track via automation after the general level is set, just make sure the group is off for all 30 tracks. (although you said you didn't want to do this.)

there might be another way more curtailed to what you are trying to do, but this works for me. I'm automating sends all the time for fx as I mix anyways.

cheers.

Send a message via AIM to Byrne
Select the tracks that you want, cmd+optn+shift click the send. I believe that's it, anyway. If it isn't, I'll repost when I get a session up...

EDIT: Okay, the command I just listed assigns consecutive busses in order from left to right (bus 1 on track 1, bus 2 track 2, etc). All I can offer is that after you Option+Shift click to assign a group of the same send to selected tracks, you can again option+shift click the send level so that it sets all the sends to unity. I know it's not REALLY what you're looking for, but maybe it'll help somewhat...?

If you find an alternative, let me know. I've been looking for it, as well...

Good luck.

that gives you sends in sequence as each track selected progresses... levels default to -∞ on each send.

got it for ya...

select all tracks you want sends on.

apple g to make a group. NOW, in the "create group" window that comes up there is an area at the top right that says: "linked within groups." make sure "send levels" is checked (selected).

now, with that group you created active and the tracks selected click shift-option and select the send desired. sends will be assigned to all tracks selected.

when you move the send level on the faders now all in that group will be linked.

enjoy!

I would indeed do it the way Oto explained it.

I use this a lot too. Only I don't recall the sends having the same level, they're either at unity or at zero, as set in the preferences.

What I do is, I group the tracks I want the sends to be at the same level (offcourse you need to tick the link box), I memorize the level I want all the sends to be at and then I click alt - send fader, making all sends jump to unity (I usually have all sends default to zero) and then I drag them down to the desired level.

I have to do it this way, because the send I want to copy is at another level as the newly created sends
