The hardware is not following the plug-in, anyone else having this issue in either Prtoools HD or LE?

Yes I am having this problem. Just click in the name field of the plugin (or wherverar) and it will follow. Annoying, but I can live with it...

Bought the LM last week and installed the newest software 2.3.16 I can't seem to get the snapshots to work. It would be great to have normal names..

what are "snapshots?"

I have the LM too. Love the mix buss, la3a, pultec e, massive passive, ssl eq, 1073 emulations in it. totally usable.

I really don't feel the 1176 and la2a though..... am i out to lunch?

Just got a liquid mix (finally... ordered one a month ago, it was defective, ordered another, it took forever to ship)... putting these snaphots in was the first thing I did!

But I still want to change the pulldown menus... any ideas? I tried opening the VST in a hex editor, couldn't find the names, the names must be in the emulation files? I really want to change them!

I compared the 1176 plugins of both LM and 1176 blackface vs. the hardware 1176 (UA reissue current rev). I found actually that the LM saturates much more like the hardware than the UA version! But the UA version has a more accurate-to-the-hardware compression curve (though it isn't perfectly smooth). Both have plenty of artifacts visible on the spectragram. The 1176 UAD plugin I believe was their first plugin though so I have to cut them some slack.

The LA-2A was a completely different story. Here the UAD was vastly more accurate to the hardware, though not sporting the true majesty of its function. The Liquid Mix compression curve was a flat-out mess, and the distortion model was pretty terrible. The UAD's distortion model wasn't as great as the hardware but was far closer to it. Having the UAD and hardware versions of the LA-2A and seeing this I will probably never load in the LM LA-2A.

So my conclusion is the plugins from each vendor will be a bit of a mixed bag, but my ears tell me the UAD is king at least most of the time. The UAD doesn't have the 60 models of the Liquid Mix available though. There are gems in that pile that make the LM a good buy. Even though the Liquid Mix has quite a bit of low-level artifacting...it's low enough you probably won't notice at least in a dense mix. The UAD has far less artifacts at least as far as I've looked.
Great post!

Could you list the LQ Mix emulations that you found was the gems of the LQ mix pile? You seem to have done som extensive testing and I would lvoe to know!

Thanks!

Hey just got Liquid Mix today, loving it! These snaps shots are great as well. Just wondering if anyone has updated them? I noticed Focusrite has added a lot of new emulations this year that aren't part of these snapshots.

Also thanks to Peeder for his work

Haha

I spent last night doing new snapshots renaming to the actual gear names, I also created a few 'gear' snaps so I have an "avalon 737" full preset and such. wish I saw this post lol

hey I've just re-installed my Liquid Mix using version 3 and these snapshots work fine as far as I can see! Thanks very much :-)

Would be awesome if there were a way to have the names directly in the drop down menus, but like peeder said earlier in the thread, it's prob not possible.

cheers!

Purchased my Liquid mix on friday, fiiiiiinally got it running properly tonight and downloaded the peeder snapshots!
I know this unit was money well spent by the massive smile on my face
Dialed up the SSL comp, threw it on the master bus, turned some real knobs, sat back and enjoyed!!
This thing is going to be alot of fun!
Great snapshots, agree with everyone though wish the pull down menu's could be named!
