Does regular Mac pro use TI firewire chipsets?

Sorry if this has been brought up before, i did a seach but couldn't find any topics. I know the new macbook pros and IMacs are using Agere but are the normal Mac Pros safe? Yes i know an update mac pro should come out sometime soon, ill wait for it but im a bit paranoid that it may contain that horrid Agere catastrophe of a chipset. Thanks

I have a MBP and when I use the 'APPLE+S' command while booting up it shows that the firewire is a "TI". FWIW

yeah but when is the question. be very careful, i've heard the whole line post-september is now agere. a major issue all over the net with no response from apple (no surprise). definitely some lost sales going on.

i have been planning on buying a macbook pro for some months. i called apple tech support yesterday (12/28) and after a few mins, the guy confirmed for me that all macbook pros ship with the firewire chipset. I took the opportunity to lodge a formal complaint, which he recorded. i told him that MOTU's web site actually says they recommend you use the TI chipset. this sucks. i want to make music!!
