Impulse Response Reverb

Does anyone have experience with an impulse response reverb, and do you think they are significantly (or sufficiently) better than the "standard" digital verb plugins?

Thanx, D

convolution reverbs

I've used some convolution reverb and I think the quality of the IR reverb depends upon the quality of the recorded impulse. Some of them are better than other types of reverb, some of them are worse. However, it's worth pointing out that convolution reverbs typically have fewer control options.

Cool

after using a bunch of convo verbs... i went back to regular verbs, because to me the result is more musical... i like convos for drum ambience and such but i´d rather use a high quality verb plugin like roomverb, princeton digital 2016, or breverb on vocals or solo instruments lately... the impulse or convolution verbs always sound a bit static to my ears... like a sampler vs a real instrument type thing...

as for convolution i think altiverb is the best...

altiverb 6.. just stay away from version 4 and 5.. 3 is also very good (with a lot less function).

its very static, clean, transparent verb. depends on what you need..

I am not a big fan, but sometimes its usefull.

cheers
