Thread Starter | Is anyone using the Aurora 16 with the LT-FW card installed in it and if you are, what problems exist or is it running perfect? What kind of of track counts can you get? Where is the bottleneck with this system? I have the AES-16 card now but I have come to find that it does not work with Samplitude properly without ASIO errors so I am considering getting the LT-FW card instead and want to know how it is functioning? Thanks! |

| I have had pretty good success running the aurora 16 with the fw card but it definitely has it's little quirks. For example, I need to make sure my mac is fully booted before turning on the aurora or else logic has issues recognizing it as my audio interface. It occasionally does not work when first starting logic which required a full system reboot to correct but it has never failed once things have started successfully. It has never failed in the middle of a session.

| It works fine here as well on a Mac pro, I usually turn on the Aurora before turning on the computer, then after booting the Eventide H8000fw. There's a separate firewire card in the computer for the Aurora - just to be sure. I've got an Apogee AD-16x clocking the Aurora and it's connected digitally to the Aurora - so I've got 32 inputs and 16 outputs running over the firewire cable. Sometimes I there isn't any sound when I've booted my computer - it might have something to do with the aggregating device I created with the Aurora and the Eventide H8000fw. Rebooting the system helps then. The computer also loads the Aurora Remote as I log in. |

| Will This work well? I am just on the verge of buying an Aurora 16 with the firewire card for my studio which runs on an 8 core MacPro with Logic 8. The reason is that I am getting a Neve 8816 summing mixer (with digital card) & want to send 16 analogue outs from Logic 8 as well as needing an additional 3 stereo AES/EBU outs to drive my Dynaudio Air 6 surround system. My question is when running the Aurora in the 32 channel mode (needed for running 16 analogue & 16 digital simultaneously) has anyone had experiance with how stable this setup is likely to be? I can afford to spare a pci-e slot for a dedicated firewire card like the SIIG 2 port firewire card. I mostly work at 24bit/44.1 but sometimes need to run at 96. On paper it all seems possible but I am a little nervous after a mixed history of using firewire interfaces from various companies. Cheers |

| AES16 vs Firewire If you are doing full 16 out and 16 in (ext. processing on all tracks) you almost HAVE to go AES16 - FW just doesn't have the bandwidth to do this (well). I personally have the AES16 hooked into an AES16e to Mac Pro 8 core, but am looking to get the FW for location work later on with a Macbook or PC notebook. With an understanding that this will limit overall bandwidth below the limits of my Aurora 16, which the AES card does not. |
