Thread Starter | PLAYING SAMPLES FROM EXTERNAL DRIVE
Hey guys, Having a problem here with computer and running Ivory grand. My hard drive only has 60 gigs and the samples are 40 gig. What I want to do is keep the samples an external drive and keep the application on my computer with Protools and be able to access them. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks guys! |

Not sure what your question is, but I have a Nextar3 housing a Seagate 400gb hard drive with all my samples and it runs pretty well using USB 2.0. I also have the capability of running esata if it ever begins to bottle neck in the future. I say, if you're going this route you're going to be pretty well off with whats out there now, but I really recommend buying the housing and hard drive seperate. Its easy to assemble and this way you can get it more customized to your likings. Hope this helps. |

I am having an issue with this as well. I have Ivory and have installed all of the sample packages to an external drive, yet when I go into logic and select a preset, no audio comes out, and I am assuming that it is because of a broken link between Logic and the external samples... where do you tell Ivory to look for the samples?

Hey, I found out the answer. Try this, if you are on OSX, go to /users/(your home)/library/preferences/ivory preferences then reassign the ivory alias to your ivory items folder on your external hard drive. to do this, click the ivory items alias (should have a little black arrow on the icon) and right click/get info or hit "cmd+I" and reselect the folder you want it to point to. that should be all. |
