Thread Starter | ilok dosent work..help!!!
well i just spent $370 on the sony oxford eq and it requires an ilok and i picked one up and registered it and loaded the codes onto it. i installed the oxford eq and when i go to launch pro tools with the ilok plugged in i get a message saying i must plug in an ilok/no ilok found. when i downloaded the codes into the ilok(on a different computer,my audio pc is offline) the light on the ilok stayed light the entire time. the light does not come on at all when i plug it into my pro tools pc. it will give a quick flash upon start-up but that is it. the usb ports are enabled in the bios. i have never used the usb ports before but if they were not working the ilok's light wouldnt flash right? when i plug the ilok in i dont get a message saying "new hardware found" nor do i see an i lok icon in the bottom right corner. thanks -jay |

I'm a mac-man so this may be totally irrelevant, but you can try the following: 1. Ensure you've got the latest iLok drivers from www.ilok.com 2. The iLok is connected directly to the PC (not hanging off another peripheral 3. Booting up with the iLok attached, then unplugging/replugging the iLok Hope that helps!

re-installed everything and still no luck. my pc dosent see the ilok. when i plug the ilok into the pc i have online(not my pro tools pc)and go to the ilok website and check to see what is on the ilok it says sony oxford eq plugin pro tools le,so i know the ilok was set up right. the ilok download i installed is called "ilok client helper". that is what i need right? i should get a message saying "found new hardware" when i plug in the ilok right? thanks!! -jay |

You will still need to download the iLok drivers to your audio PC. The iLok.com stuff isn't the same as the iLok drivers. You can download the drivers from the Pace website at: http://www.paceap.com/dldrvr.html You will then need to move this file to your audio computer and install the drivers. Once you have done this you should be all set to authorize our plug-ins. Noah |

Jay, It looks like you are having a tough go of it trying to get your iLok to install. I'm guessing that Sony's instructions don't include the part about needing to install the iLok drivers because they are included in the disk, and they do it automatically. On our Software (SoundToys) this usually works, but every once in a while we have some problem with a funky computer. If the iLok isn't lighting up, I don't think that your USB port is giving it power. iLoks will light up even if your computer doesn't have the correct drivers installed. What is your device manager saying about the iLok, or the USB ports in general. To get there you go to Control Panel, then System. The answer may be there. Sorry to hear about your troubles, and I can understand how annoying this kind of thing can be. BTW, What OS, and what computer are you running this on? Noah |
