I have a mac + pro logic 8 setup with the US-2400. It works just you have to boot the US-2400 with holding the sel + chan button not the aux 5 (don't remember the number) to use native mode - there is an error in the tascam manual. Logic will discover it as a mackie + 2 extenders AND a US-2400.

There is one problem with randomly flashing LEDs around the first encoders while playback. otherwise works perfect.
no idea about nuendo/cubase.

Wow, thanks for the speedy reply! Can you be more specific about the random flashing LEDs. Is thisthe rotary LEDs? How many are affected? thanks again.

come to think of it, I also had a problem on my old G4 where the middle bank of eight faders would not snap into sight on the screen when touched. I had to actually click the select button instead to get them on screen.
Is this a non issue with the Mac Pro in Logic?

Hi,

yes I was talking about the LEDs around the encoders and approx the first of the 8 behave this way. note that the meter function (when the LEDs act as channel meters) work OK, the flasing occures only in the PAN or CHAN modes.

it's not such a big problem just a little bit inconvinient. I have found some threads on other forums were they are hitting the same problem - but no solution yet

Are you still able to use the encoder for panning in the first eight, in between the random flashing? Or is the flashing too consistant to use in pan mode?

you can pan but without visual feedback on the console but again you can just look at the logic mixer

and regarding the channel selects - it works OK. the encoders are the only issue I have

I use mine with Logic on a Mac Pro in Tiger. It had problems with my Apogee Ensemble which you can read about in the Logic and control surface thread but those seem more taken care of now (an easy workaround but maybe not completely solved).

One of the big issues may be moving on to Leopard, as the US2400 is an unsupported product at this point. There's a guy who is going to make a driver for Leopard and Logic and the US2400 but I haven't heard about anything completed yet.

Apple - Support - Discussions - Tascam US2400 NOT compaible with ...

I haven't had any flashing LEDs but it does seem to be a little more tricky to get into the groove than your average CS (not always plug and play easy as explained in most posts on the thread). A great tool nonetheless.

Hi guys. Although Tascam discontinued the product and it is considered a Legacy product, I have a personal interest in solving this considering I designed it and I use Logic 8 and Leopard.

I installed the 1.31 update and I am trying to determine what exactly is wrong with this puppy. Sure there are many ways to create the MIDI descriptors. I would be more inclined to say that we had to balance out the PC support with the descriptor settings and it isn't really an Apple standard problem, but more that the unit needs to natively balance out PC and Mac support. Let me dig into this because I believe the least I can do is write us all a MAC only descriptor that works with Logic 8. Feel free to email me at bob@sanewave.com.

OK. I have built a new version of firmware for the US2400 that supports Native mode only for us Logic Users. I removed Mackie Control, HUI mode, and all that stuff that just makes it more complicated. The ideal way to run a US2400 is Native Mode with it showing up as a single MIDI port. Perhaps I'll get inspired to write a Native Mode DLL for Cubase but for the moment if you email me, I'll send you a Mac only, Logic 8 native mode update "Unofficially". Keep version 1.31 handy because Tascam will not support this special version and to use it with other programs you will need 1.31. This is for the hard core Logic user that just wants their nice US2400 tight and slick for Logic on a Mac.
