I was trying to figure how many channels of 24/96 audio that could run. Seems that FW400 will do at least 10, so are we looking at around 32 channels?

I read it is faster which will help with latency, but I did not read about bandwidth which would help with more streams of audio. At least I would think

Funny this comes up. I had a conversation with a few friends about picking a new motherboard (non-audio folks). One guy was excited to have fw400 onboard. I then asked him how many devices he had that use firewire...and when was the last time he used firewire. His answer? None and never.

I'm kinda interested in hearing more about USB3 and it's near 5Gbps of bandwidth. Kinda funny...I still have old serial mice laying around (I think I even have an AT keyboard somewhere...just in case)...and we're nearing the third generation of 1394 and usb. Wow...aging sucks.
