Folder contents opening slowly.

I have a problem with folders of audio files opening slowly. Some folders are worse than others.

Once I've opened a folder, it opens instantly if I click on it again (until I restart the computer).

So far I've repaired permission, run Cocktail's Pilot, and run Disc Utility's repair disc.

But...
The problem's happening with all three hard drives and restarting from another OS eliminates the problem, so I don't think it's a disc problem.

G5 dual 1.3
10.4.8
3.5 G RAM
Main audio drive: 750 Gig with 190 Gig of space.
