Thread Starter | How to use my MPC 1000 with Logic Studio?
Is it possible to use my mpc 1000 to work within Logic Studio? Can I take advantage of the logic sounds and load them into my mpc and sequence a beat? Thank you all for your time.

the easier thing to do would be to use the mpc to trigger the sounds in logic....i.e. use logic as a virtual rack of sound modules, sequence with the mpc, and then record everthing into logic as audio when done. I used to do this all the time in Pro Tools, it's a pretty cool way of working

Yeah that does sound like a better method. How would I go about doing that?

here's what i did in pro tools...controller midi out goes to MPC midi in. MPC midi out goes to 002 MIDI in(for you the MIDI in of whatever interface you use). Then you set your DAW to recieve the MIDI in from your interface, set individual softsynths to whatever channels you want and sequence away. At the end of the day, you will need to have MPC synced to logic via MTC or Midi beat clock, cause you'll wanna record your idividual sounds into logic(very simple by soloing each mpc track and recording a seperate pass). So you'll need a midi out from your interface, goint to another MIDI in on the MPC. Hope this helps, didn't get more specific cause i was doing it wit protools, but concepts are all the same |

I haven't upgraded to Logic 8 yet but on 7 its pretty tricky. First thing you need to know is Logic 8 does not support Midi Beat Clock (Which is why I havent upgraded) only Midi Time Code. So if you have not upgraded your MPC to The JJ OS it wont communicate with Logic 8. And trust me, the $30 JJ OS is well worth it. JJ OS here: MPC1000 Now, to use Logic as a Virtual rack instrument you have to create a multi instrument in the environment. I could explain the process but a visual is probably better. Look Here YouTube - How to use Logic as a sound module with a MPC Again this is logic 7 not 8. It may be simpler or harder.

| Gear interested | Using Logic Sounds in the MPC
Referring back to the topic question, does anyone know how to use Logic sounds in the MPC 1000. I have a bunch of samples in my ESX24 that I would like to record with using my MPC, not my keyboard, into Logic. Basically, I want to record my drums in the MPC, for the feel of the pads, but then use my keyboard for the melody. All of this done in Logic. If anyone can help, their time and gratitude would be much appreciated. |
