Sonar 6 Sync Problem

Hi guys.. this has happened a couple times (about 2 out of 10).

I'm recording tracking into Sonar 6 and they're recording out of sync. Only about .5sec but enough to make it incredibly annoying.

Any ideas what could be causing this? Is it buffer sizes?

Thanks in advance

A half second out of sync?

That's quite odd.

So, you lay down (we'll call it) track one and then you lay down track two and track two is something like a half second behind?

And, if you lay down a third track is it the same amount behind?

And is it always the same amount out of sync?

A lot of people have problems because their soundcard/converter drivers don't report the right amount of latency -- but that's usually something like 5 or 10 milliseconds -- not 500...

What kind of sound card or converter is it and are you using WDM/KS drivers, ASIO drivers, or those stupid Windows legacy drivers (I'm forgetting what their acronym is)?

Yep, It happens randomly. The next track will probably be fine.. but then all of a sudden - out of sync! same amount too.

I'm using an Audigy 2 Value... with the Creative WDM drivers.

Appreciate your advice here!

Have you posted this question in the Sonar forum? I have had great success with my problems there. Good luck.

Though I had moderate experience with SB Live generation cards (I had about 3 in different machines and even used one as a primary device for a number of months) I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the Audigy geneartion (and, IIRC, there that nameplating covers more than a couple of very different cards/outboard boxes).

I'd say the Sonar forum at CW is probably a good call...

Here also!

Ok, it's not just me. Sonar 6, EMU1820M, WinXP. Hit or miss on the track being in sync. Sometimes it's fine-then other times it's not even close. I've never seen anything like 500ms but certainly half that. Makes punching in very
frustrating. Nothing like a perfect take only to find it doesn't line up. When I print individual drum tracks I have to check them for sync. I thought it was a bug with my hardware- I too will post/check the Sonar forum.
