Talking Plugins, Plugins, Plugins!

What plugins do you use for what? What are the best plugins for what??

Here is what I use...

EQ:
Tracks EQ(IK Multimedia) and Digirack EQIII

Compression:
BF76 and Digirack Compressor/Limiter

Reverb and Delay:
Izotope Spectron, D-verb, and the Digidelay

Sampler: Sample Tank 2

Drum Machine: BFD

Synthesizer: Expand, TimewARP 2600

I know I know, but I'm no beginner. But I 'know' I need to upgrade. What do all you professionals use?
I don't want to by a ton of intermediate plugins, I just want the best plugin for what it does. Any info would be appreciated

Thank You.

PS Is reason 4 worth it? Or has propellarheads time ended with better products?

Massey everything. It's one of the only reasons to stay in Pro Tools LE.

Also Waves SSL and Soundtoys show up quite a bit.

EQ:
NuGen SEQ1: this EQ is practically non-coloring so it might not be what some call "musical" but it is great if all you want to do is modify the loudness of certain frequencies.
Occasional use of the Pulteq that comes with UAD1.

Compression, Reverb, Delay:
UAD1 (33609, Precision Multiband and Limiter, RealVerb), which I think is great but very much a matter of taste (and of the technical decision about the pros/cons of a DSP card).

Sampler/Synthesizer:
Sampletank, sfz (free soundfont player). Admittedly, I do not really work with them professionally.

Drum Machine:
None. I use a sequencers and samplers instead.

Cheers, Thomas

I use mainly Flux, Eiosis, McDSP and Massey.

I could certainly live with only Channel G, AirEQ, Epure and TD5. Perhaps Structure or Kontakt 3 for some sounds that my instrument arsenal don't carry.

I try to go more with hardware, but still find some plug-ins to be invaluable. I list these below.

EQ--PSP Neon HR (that really is great), otherwise Master Q
Compression--PSP MasterComp, Vintage Warmer 2, Sonalksis 315. Elephant 2
Reverb--Altiverb
Delay--PSP 84 and Multi-delay 608
Sampling--Kontakt 2
Drums--BFD
Synth--Absynth 4, Massive, FM8, Reaktor 5 and Zebra 2

Yes. Reason 4 is great IMO. It is well worth the upgrade from Reason 3.
Oh yeah. I'm not a professional.

i tried a lot of software eq's, compressors, delay, etc. most of them are shit.
i think all the sony oxford plugs are great. the waves ssl plugs are cool too but not even close to the original.
you need some dsp power for shure!!!
i just got myself a UAD-1 card it's pretty cool!!!

which ones in Massey do you guys use?

the delay is great no doubt but the tape head/distorter/eq I can't find any use for...any one want to enlighten?

The eq only has treble mids and bass knobs...

Tape head works really good on drums and bass IMO, mainly for some added grit and not so much as "tape".

tapehead is awesome after softsynths... takes away a bit of that digital sheen if you need it to.

the eq is for quick corrections, it's not going to work on everything but occassionally if I'm running out of CPU and need to do a quick cut sometimes it works.

the THC (assuming that's what you mean by 'distorter') is a stomp-box model, so it works best on guitars (but it can do interesting things on other instruments or vox as well). it's basically a distortion pedal in-the-box.
