If you are interested in a non-hardware software only version of Duende please chime in.

I think it would be a great thing. What do you think? Maybe if there is enough response it will peak SSL's interest.

i dont think i get one - im more inclinded to go for a liquid mix...

i used an early version of duende and wasnt overwhelmed...

but its a personal taste thing i guess...

however if it was native then that suddenly becomes more appealing!

software only...

mmmnnn nice idea!

peace

Native is the way to go. There is a market for more OTB processing, or additional like UAD, or Powercore......but I prefer to have everything Native. No compatibility issue, driver problems, hardware failure.....It's basically a money grab, and expensive dongle for these companies, but with Quad Core's and dual Quads coming......who needs extra processing?

I'd love to see a hardware controller that integrates with Duende first, so I can reach for a knob rather than a mouse in a well laid out manner.

I remember Sony telling me directly there would NEVER be a native version of the Oxford stuff.

If there is enough interest in general, who knows what might happen somewhere down the road. A girl can dream can't she?

It doesn't matter how much interest there is... for the foreseeable future it will NOT happen.

There is already a Native SSL product.... It's manufactured by Waves and it is licensed by SSL.

I may on occasion talk about some of the products I am a dealer for in my posts.. and that's OK! I sell them because I like them. Not vice versa. It's more fun to talk about things you know and love, then things you don't.

But unfortunately the two products are different enough sounding that the Waves SSL plugs won't satisfy everyone's needs/wants/desires and these same people (like me) don't want to use/purchase the SSL hardware Duende.

If the deal with Waves has some type of no compete clause, hopefully (for me and some other people taking this poll) that will end within the next few years.

People would then have the choice for a more aggressive sounding Waves/SSL plug solution and/or a SSL/Duende smooooooth sounding plug solution (both in Native form).

Tony, if this happens someday it will be like the first time I got in my mom's Volare as a child and got to feel the real Corinthian leather against my skin. Amazing... something one never forgets.

We both know that, but it doesn't matter... They have licensed their name to another native product and you best believe Waves has got an agreement in place with them where they won't compete against each other.

You should just buy the hardware X-rack stuff anyway.

everyone wanted a protools native and m-box 2 micro became a solution. A cheaper hardware(or dongle) would be enough I guess if ssl is scared that their products would be cracked.

+ 1.

I've always wondered why SSL went with a FW dongle rather than a PCI card since Sydec users can use the same SSL Duende Plugs on their mixpander cards with 0 latency if I'm not mistaken. If they offered the Mixpander Card minus the DAW (the name slips my mind) that comes with it, I'd buy it.
