Thread Starter | PT or Logic for Film composing ? I am a PT guy, that has been my environment for many years now (since I left Cubase in '98). Today I went and bought myself a copy of Logic 8 since I'm working with some electro artists who have all their stuff in Logic. So I figured it was time to look into it. I see on Apple's homepage that one of Logic great features is the ability to compose to a Quick time movie. Well, we have it in PT as well but it seems to be more advanced in Logic. Which do you guys prefer when you are doing TV/Film work ? Kalli |

| Lives for gear | PT vs Logic It would depend on Mac or PC first, Logic is Apple only. Quicktime and other Apple technologies have become 2nd class citizens in DigiDesign World. In Logic, all of the Apple goodness is integrated and works pretty well in Logic 8. I'm learning to love it for composing. Many have complained about the bugs but I've been taking Apple One to One training and Logic is what I've been hoping for, GarageBand on Ultra Steroids. I'm using Logic on a new Mac Pro Quad 2.66 and it is rocking. We are working on a new 3D music video. I'll let you know the rest when we finish it. So far, no gotcha's or nothing we can't do. BTW, Logic and Final Cut Studio are an amazing team. I've wondered why Apple just did not buy Avid. Now I know why. They don't need to. They will get the customers in the end anyway. Cheers and good luck. Mark |

| Personally I prefer Logic for writing electronic music. So many cool sounds and Midi programming is very easy and work flow can be a breeze. I still think Pro Tools is amazing for editing audio. I'm trying to figure out how I can hook up both. If you could rewire/port Logic into Pro Tools I probably would all the time... |

| I would agree with this a couple of months ago, but IMO the times they are a changin' with the help of Structure, Elastic audio and even Sibelius support. It still depends very much on workflow. |
