Is it possible to import automation from another session in ProTools?

Is it possible to import automation from a previously saved session into a newer session in ProTools? Not sure if I am wording that right.?

When working on a song, I do a lot of "save as" to document the various phases of building the song. This way I can always reference back to previous versions. Along the way I might make changes that I dont like(guitar or vocal levels), so I am wondering if there is a way to import, say, the volume levels of the guitar tracks in an earlier version of the song.

I know I can just go back and write down the levels or do a screen shot, but some of my automation can get pretty complex.

Thanks for any help.

Brilliant. Thanks a lot. I knew there had to be a way to do it, but I couldn't find it in any of my books.

In LE, you can only import whole channels (all plugins, audio regions etc) - in HD, you could choose to just re-import the automation over what you're working on.

So as well as importing the session data, you'll need to then copy the automation over, and get rid of the duplicated channel.

Just another LE limitation!

Ahhh ok thx. Good to know.

Somehow I thought there must be some Le limitation in all of this.
