Mac Pro's: how HOT do they get?

I am still running a G4 with Protools Mix cards (3 mix farms). The back of the computer gets VERY, very hot.

I am just wondering if the Mac Pro/HD combo is any cooler.

I read the thread that says the Mac Pro's are much more quiet, so I am hoping that they are cooler as well.

Anyone have the thing loaded with several HD cards?

my mac pro definitely runs quite warm but i don't notice it in a big way, just the room in general with the door closed feels warmer, not such a bad thing in the winter!

Thanks for the info. Guess I was dreaming that my next machine would be quiet AND cool!

I'm in Miami... so that's never a good thing!

I live on the southeast Mediterranean coast of Spain (doesn't get very cold here!) and my Mac Pro w/four internal 7,200 RPM Seagates runs at a comfortable temperature (measurably cooler than my G5 dual 2.0 did).

Do you have Protools cards installed? If so, how many?

I am interested in only hearing from PT HD users, (as they tend to give off a lot of heat)

Thanks!

Same here, and it's only 1/3 as loud as my old 2x2ghz G5

Our Mac never heats up. We run HD3. What DOES heat up is the 92 and 198 I/O units. The HD expansion also runs pretty warm.
We actually have an editing station with an old G4 and comparing the two, the MacPro is a LOT quieter.
