Macbook Pro performance?

Hi, I'm considering purchasing one of the newly updated Macbooks which basically have the same processors and RAM capacity as the current Macbook Pros. I was wondering if anyone has any experience using Logic 8 with a Macbook Pro and what interface you are using. I am planning on using an M-Audio Firewire 410 and only really using virtual instruments along with an MPC1000 and some MIDI keyboards.

macbook pro 2.2ghz here with Apogee Ensemble and Logic pro 7.

works beautifully. kills my old G5. plenty of power. tons of tracks and plugins.

I will be happy for quite some time with this.

The same for me. Macbook pro 2.33. Logic 8 works very well. Using tascam 1884. It works faster than my old G5 2.0ghz ppc...(no problems on PPC anyway )

SKIP USB

I'm using an external USB drive and after turning off disk journaling, it's working OK. That said, USB isn't very good for streaming samples.

I ran a benchmark test that came with a black magic HDMI capture card on my Mac Pro and the results were stunning. Let's just say that the internal drive was orders of magnitude more capable than a firewire drive which was orders of magnitude more capable than the 2 external USB drives I have.

My track counts are very low right now, so the external USB is fine, but if you're streaming sample VSTi and recording/playing a large number of tracks, I'd go the external SATA or firewire approach

works swell with logic and onyx 1640 and Digi 003 as far as I can tell. Never once had a problems, exept PT shut itself down once and I think that was just its own issues

i have 2 gigs of ram and it seems like enough
