Roland VS-2480 + Digi 002

Get a load of this bucket of syrup:

So I'm trying to sync a Roland VS-2480 to a Digi002 running with Pro Tools LE 7.3 on a PC. I've followed every instruction I can get to a T, but it's just not happening.
If I have Pro Tools set to "on line" with record engaged but no tracks armed, i hit play on the 2480, and a message pops up in Pro Tools saying "You don't have any tracks record enabled." If I then arm a track and try again, the 2480 plays, and Pro Tools sits there unaffected.

Here are the most complete set of instructions I could find on the matter, from the Digidesign website.

Any ideas?

If you just try to get pro tools to chase the roland with no tracks in record, what happens?

It's obviously seeing TC, but has a problem recording.

Preferences menu - there's "record online" options. Maybe try changing these? what are they set to at the moment?

I get hte SAME error. You HAVE to have a track record enabled to engage the Record Arm button on the transport.

Try this:

Roland Settings:
1. Utility/Sync Parameter
2. Midi out Sync Generate = MTC

Utility/Midi Parameter
MMC=Master and make sure Sysex Tx Sw is=ON

Protools Settings:

Setup/Peripherals/Sync:
1. MTC Reader Port = 2480
2. MTC Generator Port =2480

Machine Control
Midi Machine Control Remote Slave = Enable

Leave the ONLINE turned OFF

Mines working now. I can record arm from the transport and then hit play. No punch in using the Rcord button though. Protools is SO CRAPPY with its sync

If that doesnt work, check here under my name and SYNC or Protools
VS-Planet BBS: VS-2480 Forum

Ill mess with it tomorrow night some more, my brain is FRIED, been studying Cubase ALL DAY!!

All that said, I usually SLAVE the VS to Protools as it works MUCH better that way IMO, the issues your having is the reason I went the other direction. Now I just SLAVE the VS2480 to both Cubase 4 and Protools 7.3 with NO issues at all, the VS follows just fine
