firewire boxes - round-trip latency

i've been testing a number of firewire boxes for round-trip latency using the max/msp latency-test patch (in examples/utilities) at 44100 with a 64 sample block size (vector size in max speak). thought i might share my results so far. this is under os x 10.4.10.

i've already subtracted the 128 samples max buffering

m-audio 410 --- 219 samps (5.0ms)
digi 002r --- 272 samps (6.2ms)
saffire pro 26 --- 275 samps (6.2ms)
presonus firebox --- 308 samps (7.0ms)
apogee rosetta800 --- 326 samps (7.4ms)
macbook audio --- 671 samps (15.2ms)

the m-audio 410 and digi 002r were using their own drivers, all else were apple drivers. the rosetta was using the firewire option card. i was actually surprised at how similar the numbers are...
