Waves plugins, I'm really only interested in the SSL / API / Renaisance stuff...

I've used these plugs a ton on rigs that I don't own...

Now I'm finally gearing up to buy some plugs for my DAW.

Can I just buy these packs seperately? Do I need one of these bundles first...I keep looking for requirements on their site but it's never conclusive.

I suppose there are other great plugs in their bundles, (so if there's a goldmine plug set you think I'm skipping out on, say so now and I'll read up on it)

Thanks for the help in advance!

yes, you can buy them all separately. There's the renaissance max bundle, and then SSL and API packs.

Is the vocal pack worth the extra dough vs the renaisance stuff?

(Since it's essentially the same with auto tune and pitch shifters?)

I'll probably get the Vocal, the SSL and the API from studica.com...

No I'd get API, SSL, Ren Max..

With Ren Max you get all the cool Ren stuff but also get IR and Tune.. Tune is the only thing I liked from that vocal bundle.

Vocal bundle == waste of money (imo)
Renaissance bundle == good investment and good plugins
API, SSL, V-Series == sonic bliss. three different flavours of the best plugin compressors and equalizers available.

if I had to buy just one 'vintage' bundle again now it would be the API, closely followed by the SSL (which I mainly just use for the EQ and the E-Channel gate).

are you trying to build a whole library of plugs (do you need FX, Reverb, etc) or do you just need a good compressor and eq set? if you need a solid set of plugins and you need the whole gamut of tools - don't overlook McDSP. the Emerald Pack is a best-buy and a bargain (the only thing that is not really useful in that bundle is the Chrome Tone imo).

Cheers
JD

Just a heads up, Waves requires a Purchase Order from the school or university for education purchases. They don't do student discounts.

School PO, yes 100% true.

Waves had at one time offered student discounts, now, school po's are required.

:)
