Any opinions on two buss out to masterlink versus two buss back to PTLE

I would be going through good quality converters both ways , make up gain, and a fatso and than either back into PTLE via spdif converter or to masterlink.
Is their a significant difference in sound quality between the two? any opinions wouldbe greatly appreciated.

what converters are you using with LE? i much prefer the masterlink converters to the stock 001 or 002 converters. the masterlink converters are really quite good sounding actually.

!

Thanks.
I have a bechmark D/A and Mytek A/D two channels each. I am trying to figure if I would benefit from summing out to the master link or summing out and than back to PTLE w/ the converters in line. am I losing anything bouncing to disk,Ive read about not bouncing and just puling the stereo wav files out to burn. I always get a bit lost when it comes time to dither and bit reduce. seems like I am sending my child off to unknown forces???

You're not actually summing if you're just going out 2 channels, and back in again.

If you're using the sound of the Fatso on the mix, then go out, through it and back in again. If you don't, you're not gaining anything.

There's nothing to be gained going to the masterlink if you're using external converters either. Might as well go straight back to PT.

Personally, I've never had a problem bouncing to disk. If you're uncomfortable doing that, you can just re-record internally using bussing and that'll be your master. Either way, get the master mix into PT, and you can use a dither plug (again via an internal buss or bounce to disk) to dither down to 16b.
