Converting midi tracks to audio tracks???

Is there a way to convert a midi sequence to an audio file?? .. Like in Pro tools where you can bus a midi track to an audio track and record it as an audio file.

Lately i've done some sequencing in Logic 7 but i can't find a way to do this .. is there a way to do this in Logic 8???

This always hangs people up. You have a melody, or a drum pattern. Your midi sequence plays back sounds/samples etc. Great!! Now you want to record those sounds. Better to think of it this way than "converting to audio". Dive into that manual and learn Logic 7's audio recording process! Then play your sequence back with the audio of your sound modules etc. routed to your enabled audio recording tracks! Don't be afraid, dive into that manual! Just do iT!

I got logic 7 from a friend so i dont have the manual.. i want to get Logic 8 cause i find it smoother to sequence in Logic but i'd like to keep mixing in pro tools cause i have an HD system .. I'm just looking for an easy way to have all these midi tracks as audio file so i can import them to pro tools later on.

now that i explained it better, any suggestions?

Thankss

Logic is pretty deep. Ask your friend for the manual.

I just did this exact thing in Logic Pro 8 this weekend.
So yes, it's possible.

select a bus as the output for your midi track,
select that bus as the input for the audio track you want to record to...voila.

Wonderful! I've never needed to do this, but it is good to know, in case at some point I run into CPU or RAM issues.

But what I don't understand is why all the talk about "digging deep" into the manual, then, if this is so easy?

Sorry, I didn't mean to be so cryptic with my last post. It was right before class!
I just got Logic Studio last week Tuesday, and had hardly any time to check it out before Saturday when I used it to make music for a film that I entered with a team in Apple's 24 hour Insomnia film project.
Needess to say, I was a little pressed for time that night (and very sleep deprived), but I remembered doing something very similar in DP5 and just tried essentially the same thing. Lo and behold, it worked. No manual diving or swearing necessary.
Anyway, the point is just that I think a lot of the function in Logic Pro 8 IS very intuitive/instinctive, but I'm still anxious to read up on all of the advanced things I can do. That kind of sums up most of Apple's stuff- easy enough for a novice to pick up, but deep enough for a pro to use seriously.

or for the lazy... how about freezing the track in question and then adding the freeze file to your session? it'll start at bar one and if you had the preferences right, you should have a file with a bit depth & sample rate to match your session! my suggestion though is to rename the freeze file once imported, as logic erases freeze file when you unfreeze a track...

this works in Logic 7, not sure about LP8

OR...

just solo the instrument and bouce it offline!
