Thread Starter | MTC Out bug?
Hey guys, Super logic newbie...I work with a composer who's been using DP and/or cubase in conjunction with several machines running gigastudio, kore, kontakt, etc. This all dumps into a PT machine for mixing, editing, etc. So my client got Logic and is kinda diggin' it, so I'm playing catchup trying to stay a few steps ahead of him. I've run into a little bug, I think. I'm trying to get PT to chase Logic with MTC over MIDIOverLAN. Works great in Cubase and DP. The PT machine is on the 8th port of MOL and shows up really far down the list of MTC destinations in the Syncronization settings in Logic. If I select my PT1 port and hit play the menu setting bumps back to the MOTU MTP #4 (first MIDI device) and MTC gets sent out the MTP instead of the selected MOL port. I messed with it a bit and it seems like there is a place where the list sorta starts over and if I select anything after the 4th channel of the 7th MOL port it goes back to the top of the list. For now the only way for Logic to spit MTC out the correct PT port is to have it send MTC out every MIDI channel in the studio....kind of annoying. Anyone have an idea who/how this is happening? Seems like a bug to me, but I'm a logic newb! Thanks! Mike |

Hi Mike, Can't help too much using MTC, sorry. But I have set up/ran multiple rigs that sync Logic and PT. The best solution I have found is to use LTC. From my experience MTC tends to drift and is not consistant. You do have to have Logic chase PT, becuase Logic can't spit LTC. Just My 2 Cents, Dick |

Thanks for your thoughts, Dick. My client really wants PT to chase to Logic, but he only REALLY cares if the transport in logic runs the rig. I may try getting MMC running, or setting up a faderport for the transport so it doesn't matter...I'll look into LTC, thanks. Mike |
