Hey Guys, i've been using logic since 6.0 and am really happy with it. i'm currently running 7.1 on my G4 (1.25 GHz, dual processor, 2 GB RAM) and it runs without problems. obviously i'm very curious to run logic 8 now, but do you think it'll run on my G4? ![]() is there any guys running it already on that mac. i hope to get a new mac in about 6 months anyway...shall i wait until then? thanks a lot for your time and your thoughts... take care ![]() speedy |

| ive been testing LP8 on my mates powerbook G4 1ghz and it runs great. Slow screen redraws that ive read about with certain macs are not an issue. It runs just as slick as L6 does. Obviously im not really pushing the CPU but really ive had no problems at all. The learning curve from 6 is non existent for me. All works fine. |

| I put L8 on my Powerbook G4 1.67Ghz 2G Ram and it ran O.k. On my PowerMac G5 Dual Processor PPC 1.6Ghz 2G Ram it run awsome! Dual processers! On the Powerbook I just felt like I didn't have enough power, cause when you use plugs and loops it starts to eat up the CPU and it cuts out or stops recording. Even after adjusting the sample rate I just hated the latency. So I just reenstalled L7 on my Powerbook for mobile recording and keep L8 on the Powermac for homestudio recording and mixdown power. If your gonna get a new Mac soon I would just hold off on L8 Studio till you get your new Mac. L8 is AWSOME by the way!!!! |

| Anyone running L8 on a G4 PowerBook 1.25ghz w/2GB RAM?? That is what I have and am working everyday w/L7.2.3. The min specs for L8 is exactly a 1.25ghz G4. Can't get a Mac Pro until next year but want to know if the performance of L7 and L8 is comparable at the least on a G4. Really want to upgrade but resigned myself to the fact I might have to wait... this thread is giving me hope! |

| When I try to install L8 on a PowerMac G4 AGP Graphics which has been upgraded to a 1.5 GHz machine, I get a message from the installer saying that my graphics card is not capable of running OPEN GL and that this is a recommended item (couldn't find that anywhere on Apple's website) and when I click to continue, it quits the installer. If it is only recommended and I only want to run L8 and Waveburner, why can't I get to the custom installer to do so?

| BUT (help!), What if the installer (double clicking first install of first install disc) won't continue past the computer check? The first thing the L8 installer does is "check the computer for...". At the end of this check, it produces a dialog on the installer screen that names three recommended things that my computer supposedly does not have. (recommended mind you.) When you close this dialog, the installer quits without allowing installation or a way to get to the Custom installation page...??? ![]()

| Hey guys, I'm running a powerbook G4 1.67 and will soon be upgradding to 2gb ram. Going off of what everyone has said previously in this thread I don't think running it will be a problem. I am new to Logic and was wandering if I should get LP7 and use it for a while and then get L studio, or should I just go for studio to start with. thanks -Yisrael |

| Almost, 1.33GHz 12" Powerbook G4 with 1.25Gb RAM. Works fine provided you're using a reasonable buffer and latency settings. CPU usage gauge is a bit screwy because it shows two CPU meters (not a dual processor or core system, obviously). Just running an 8 track LP7 session off the system HD and it plays fine. Some of the software instruments take a few seconds to load up... it's nowhere near as fast as my Core 2 Duo iMac but for portable recording and small sessions it'll be fine. The single window concept works great on small notebook screens too.

| Awesome! Thanks alot for the help. I'm very excited about the L8. Do any of you know if its possible to use a powerbook and a G5 tower as one computer, I guess with firewire connection or with usb? I have tried to find this online but havn't had much luck, of course I don't even know what to call it. I called apple but they didn't know what I was talking about. |

| Apple was not at AES... the apogee guys said they were there unofficially for them. Gonna try and go to the presentation at the Soho store tomorrow night from the Logic programmers and get some info on the G4s. -PS |

| went to the Apple presentation last night about L8. Was really great and the upgrade looks awesome and seems to address a lot of the issues I've wanted updated. Was able to ask two of the engineers afterwards about running L8 on a G4. Basically they both said it should run fine and have similar performance as we're having now with L7. Mainstage using more graphic support then our G4 can handle so one engineer said it might not look so great. Hmmmmm. |

| Thanks for the report! I also have a G4 1.25 PB, so I might have to give it a try (no need for Mainstage here, fortunately). |

| So whomever takes the plunge must report back here! I'll prob have to wait a a few weeks untill I finish a couple projects. Don;t want to do a major upgrade while mid-project in case disaster strikes! |

| I have a G4 powerbook and I can't see the point of upgrading to L8 just for a new compressor and a cpu hit |

| Trust me Loaf. You'll find a lot more in L8 than a new compressor. Makes production flow a whole lot easier. Just generally a great upgrade. Everything else in the package is just icing on the cake. YMMV...

| hey I ran lp8 on a mac mini 1.5 ghz with 1 gig ram. It ran fine. But it runs much better on my g5 1.8ghz dual with 2 gigs of ram. I can't till I can get a intel machine. My pockets are short right now

| I have a powermac g4 dual core 1 ghz 1.5 gigs of ram. OSX Leopard. I baught the wrong video card and now buying another. a Nvidia 64mb card because logic required one upon installition. Will this machine support logic 8 or am I just wasting my time? I'd have to buy a mac pro not laptop or mini mac has slots for my motu card. |

| Logic 8 runs just fine on the G4... Installation can sometimes be a little tricky, as you've noticed with the video card requirement (I even found a workaround for that), but once on the computer, it runs nicely. Just don't expect the same of some of the other included software. ( Logic 8 and Waveburner Pro work well on my Mac G4 AGP 400 upgraded to 1.5GHz (Fast Mac) with 1.5 GB RAM. I used track freeze when using virtual instruments or a lot of plugs.) YMMV...

| yes but logic studio's minimum requirements says it has to have a 1.25 the mac genius said a dual core 1 gig is faster but he thought there was code written into the installation program to stop your your machine is not a 1.25. So has anyone gotten a G4 1 gig to work, or any other g4 under 1.25? |
