Changing a system drive on XP

Hey guys.

I'm running out of room on my 80gb system drive on my PC. What is the smoothest way to install my system on to a bigger drive without having to reinstall all the software? What would be the equivalent to "carbon copy cloner" for pc's?

Any links or advice would be appreciated.

Cheers
Adam

I was reading about those. Anyone had experience with these? I'd like to learn a lot more before risking my whole system on them.

Norton Ghost

I tried a demo of Acronis a while back and it trashed my system. I may have done something wrong but it was enough for me to never even consider it again.

that's an option - I could even change to vista, but who knows what the repercussions of that might be. I just hoped to avoid the hassle of reinstalling EVERYTHING and spending weeks returning the system and all it's quirks to the way it was.

I would recommend a reinstall but with the low price of hard drives these days I would just go and buy a new one but keep the old one for a long time just in case I need something from it. Of course before installing a new drive I would copy the stuff I needed from my C drive.
