Thread Starter | Going nuts with ProTools outboard latency my setup: PTMP - M-Audio FW1814 - RME FF800. i'm using ADAT between FW1814, and clocking with Word Clock, RME as Master. just when i thought the outboard loop around ADDA latency was in certain samples (it was 107 to start with), and tested many times in that same session to make sure.... then in real world session, i tried the same thing with the same setup, and the sample number starts to go AWOL. i start to get samples like 61.... WTF?? so making sure i'm not tripping, i tried going back to the "test session", and also it's giving me different numbers now! i tried restarting PT, restarting MacPro, trashing pref, using FW1814 as Master clock, using ADAT as clock source... to no avail. at times it's 80, then 122, 196, 102, etc etc etc.... i'm going crazy here... what the hell is going on with ProTools? shouldn't the loop around sample latency be the same every time?? ![]() ![]() ![]() please help!!

| Lives for gear | I know... check out this thread for my woes: Sample delay plugin for PTLE Very frustrating as I also believed the latency compensation value to be fixed, therefore you only had one value to deal with using the time adjuster plug... And it isnt. I still get close enough so that I can use my outboard though...

Thread Starter | funny, i did a search and just finished reading that thread before coming across your post. so it's official then, that the system latency is variable... argh. is there at least a consistency somewhere? e.g., same session, as long as it's opened, has the same system latency... until PT's quit? i'm gonna PM peeder about this. |
