Plug-ins External hardrive or system drive??

Plug-ins External hardrive or system drive??

I have all my plug-ins installed and accessed through my external hardrive.I noticed that when i use more than 10 instances of a plug-in my cpu fan starts going like its about to fly away and sounds like a vacuum.I noticed this when i had a program runnin off my hardrive then i put it on my system drive and it ran better.Would it be better to install my plug-ins on the system hardrive? so my computer wont turn into a vacuum? and it would put less strain on my cpu right?.

what do yall think

That's your problem. That combined with maybe a lack of RAM.
There's even a slight chance it could also be your power supply.
As far as plugins are concerned, yo, system drive all the way. Whether it's IDE or SATA/ATA, it's more stable, more consistant, and not as easily affected by other devices like USB or even Firewire is.
i got a 2.80 ghz with 2 gb of ram running protools 7.3.The plug-in im talkin bout is izotope ozone i heard it's a cpu hog.I have this plug-in on my latest project so when im done eith it i will also be done with ozone and find a more usefull cpu sufficient plug-in.

proper candidates
ssl 4000 plug-in
pultec eq
cakewalk vintage channel vc-64
digidesign smack
massey plug-in - i heard u can run 30 of these no prob

tell me what u think

Good question. I put VST and plugins on an external drive but I wonder if I got a third internal hard drive to put all thats stuff on if that would help or hurt performance.
