Logic Pro 8 compatible with VST/Au-adapter?

I'm wondering whether I should buy VST/AU -adapter, since I have some trouble getting softsynths to show up when choosing softsynth for tracks.
Logic recognizes the AU -instruments, but I just do not seem to be able to get them available when trying to set up a track.

Or, is there an obvious solution I might have overlooked?
Me stupid once more?

All my AU instruments work perfectly, and all my 3rd party effects too.

Also my wrapped VST effects work. I don't have that many, but those I have work fine.

Red face Actually, I have not used Logic since Logic 1.6!

Thanks for answering.

The truth is that I am rather new to Logic. Last time I used Logic was when I had a Mac Performa 400 with a Logic 1.6... I guess things have changed since then.

I have not yet found how to load 3rd -party sofware into Logic.
I have gotten the AU -versions of my softsynths validated in AU - manager. But when I shall load them from the tracks (on the left side of the Logic window) I only get one softsynth (reFx Nexus) and a listing that says "Other" which is gray'ed out.
I can load the Nexus, but since I have all the other softsynths (NI Komplete, Ik Multimedia, Gmedia, Linplug, R Papen++) I feel something really is missing from the experience.

Am I supposed to do something special within system folders to make these AU - versions playable?

Thanks in advance for answering.
