What plugins did you use to switch from TDM only plugs to AU plugs?

Hi there,

I don't know yet if I'm going to go Native and sell my PT HD but I'm wondering if you could tell me what you're using as AU plugins for the ones that are TDM only like McDSP, Phoenix, etc...

I'm sure there are alternatives but I don't have the knowledge so I assumed you are more informed than me!

Thanks!
Vincent

The plugin I miss the most is definitely Phoenix, and I don't have a real alternative. I use Inflator, Trash or Echoboy for these purposes (fattening, harmonics, disto)
Fortunately, I have a Hedd

McDsp EQ,s I don't miss at all, as I upgraded my Sony EQ to AU (for 19 pounds)
So I did with Antares Autotune, Soundtoys and Waves SSL.
I decided to keep the TDM versions, who knows, in which situation I'll have to work.

I did like the Limiter from Massey, but I also like the Sony Limiter ! More choices here.

I'd like to have the Soundtoys Soundblender and hope, they will bring him to AU.

Generally spoken, I feel much better now, cause there are so many creative AU plugs for much lower prices, that I never looked back !

I don't really miss anything from PT TDM apart from some SoundToys stuff not yet in native.

Using Waves Platinum, Sonnox Oxford, Sonalksis, Flux, IK CSR Reverb, Antares Auto-Tune, etc.

In Logic you get a plethora of great plug-ins so I'm basically covered in all departments.

There a so many great plugin choices out now, that there aren't really any compelling HD only plugs that you can't live without. The Waves V, API, and SSL plugs are all amazing. You can also get a UAD Card(s) for the rest and be done frankly. I have an HD2 and only use a few TDM plugs, I mainly use RTAS plugs on my HD rig, mainly because they are cheaper and my MacPro can handle them no problem.

Now that being said, If I were you and could swing it financially, I'd buy the system I plan to migrate to before selling your HD right just to make sure it is what you want to do, and if so, then sell your HD rig. I have used DP5, Protools LE, and Logic Pro on a Mac Pro, using FF800, Apogee Rosetta, Symphony System, Motu 828MKII, and Presonus Converters and can tell you that in my opinion, none of those combinations give you what Protools HD does, in terms of stability, latency, and use of outboard gear.

Now that opinion is for my needs and your needs can be completely different.
