Thread Starter | Does L8 have wait-for-note?
I use this all the time in DP, and was told it wasn't in L7. So I waited very patiently for L8 (since I've been told many many times how much more efficient Logic is than DP, which isn't surprising really ).So...is wait-for-note there? (ya know, press record, but doesn't start until note is pressed in keyboard...as in, midi synth keyboard )

I don't think so, but there's step sequencer in the Matrix, where you can input notes one at a time as you press.

Logic has a great feature - its called capture last take as recording, I almost never use record when its a midi take (unless its looping), you can set this up as a key command. whenever you touch any midi note, logic remembers it until you press play again, then it empties its cash. Lets say you played a piano part without recording and you really like the take you just done, you can press a key command (in my case its shift return) and the take would appear as a recording.

hmm...I really don't think this is some obscure feature that can only be used once in a blue moon for some strange project. I use it all the time scoring to pic- find the exact point in the film and start there...or when I use the DAW basically as a tape recorder with no regard to the bars, then I screw up say the piano part, I just line up the wiper to the exact note, right up to it, then just continue from there. Or heck, when I just want to take a quick breath and mentally prepare before playing/sequencing without worrying that the countoff started...or even when I don't feel like waiting a whole bar before playing.. I dunno...somebody please look this up in Logic 8, I would find it quite shocking if it isn't there. |

Hmm.. I dont use this feature (cause its not suitable for my workflow), but I do remember it being there a long time ago, maybe in version 6. Suppose its still there.. Think it might have been Pause-Rec, then punch, then start playing or something like that.

Wait for note is in L7 in all it's non-functional glory. I don't think it ever worked did it? Took it out in 8. No big deal really, lot's of options.
