Logic Studio (Logic 8 Pro) Unboxing Pics!

Just got my Logic Studio box (upgrade edition, but all the stuff same as the "new purchase" box). The box is heavy - feels like 25 pounds! Don't know how the upgrade mechanism works yet, as I haven't installed it. I assume it will just scan my XSKEY during installation.
Sorry for the poor pic quality but you get the idea of what comes in the box. There is so much content that comes in Logic Studio I can't believe its only $500 to buy outright (or $199 for us upgraders). The included Jam Packs alone are worth $500.00 (though I'll never use these canned loops myself) -- its very clear that Apple has aimed this product's value-for-money ratio squarely at the heart of Digi/PT, especially with the XSkey being gone. The Logic Pro 8 manual is also massive - over 1000 pages!
Lastly, sorry to fans of other DAWs as well as people that have been dissing Logic for years but face it, this is the DAW "everyone's going to be talking about" now.

It's a small thing, but didn't you love how the box is physically heavier weight (i.e. not cardboard like Logic Pro 7). It's the little things. Nice job, Apple!

The $200 upgrade buys that box full of stuff? I thought maybe it would be just a couple of discs and a pdf manual.

Indeed, you get all of the above for $200.

These days a printed manual is getting to be a rare thing inded. Top marks for bucking this trend.

A PDF manual is great to have running while you're working, but printed manuals follow me everywhere when I buy something new.

The shipping weight of the Logic Studio 1.0 box (and contents) plus the shipping box weighs 12.5 pounds.

I put my box on a UPS scale.
It was so heavy I had to check it out.

Great stuff guys, keep it all coming.

What kinda noise does it make when you slide open the box and is the smell a cleany gluey papery newspapery smell or more ciscopress pristine papyrusy odour.

Logic always has shipping in a heavy box full of printed manuals. Apple continued that trend with Pro 6 and Pro 7, and happy they still do so with Logic Studio 8. I love printed manual as well

Printed manual is available for some other DAWs too actually. Usually for $50 extra or so by itself

This is not necessarily a good thing people, environmental impact and all that! I'd rather have a no paper manual option...

What about the electricity you would use by having your computer on while reading the 1000 page manual?

(ok, joking sorry)

Why don't you go stop up an active Volcano, that would have a larger impact on the enviroment!

Peoples..... there IS also a PDF version of the printed manuals - just go to the Logic section on Apple's website. They have 10 or so PDF's available to the public domain and they are 1:1 copies of the printed versons. I downloaded them all because I like being able to search a PDF rather than thumbing the manual sometimes.....
