Thread Starter | "Import Session Data" like feature in LP8?
Can anybody confirm if a feature similar to "import session data" from PT has been implemented on Logic Pro 8? This is one my biggest issues with logic. I do a lot of collaborating work and it's a pain when someone else continues to work on a copy of my original session in another studio and then they bring it back to add to my session that by this time other things have been added to it. |

Well, In Logic 7 you can save channel strip settings to save efx chains. And since you can have multiple sessions open at once you can paste audio from one into say a mix template of another. I just did that with a whole album I was mixing and it worked great (all the songs had similar setups however), better than import session data in Pro Tools.

what about recalling 88 channels for a 2 part, 5.1 surround live mix? saving and recalling will take ages.

You still have not gotten into copying and pasting the tracks from one session to another. If it's a huge session so many things can be missed, I take it back, even with a small one , things like automation, tiny regions , even the amount of tracks. It's a daunting, and a waste of valuable time. And did I forget to mention this only for a one time transfer. And knowing how this industry works there is never a "one time" or "quick" anything. A say this being a logic pro user for about 5 years know it's my goto tool, I love logic , and I also use PT when I need to. So in that regard I think PT "import Session Data" is a great feature and the ease of use cannot compare to what logic makes you go through. I was hoping that apple would of addressed this issue. I'm still waiting for my copy of LP8 to arrive and confirm that there is no feature or workaround other than than one you quoted. | |

Import Session Data is so important these days! I agree, L8 really needs something like this especially when you have different people working on different parts of the song and need to smoothly and quickly bring things into the master session without halting your workflow. Seems weird this has been overlooked for so long. Or is it there and I just don't know it?
