Memphis Horns/ Kick Ass Brass/ etc.

After listening to some MP3s, I really, really like the sounds on the Memphis Horns CD-ROM. Unfortunately, I need to be able to play notes, not just phrases. Kick Ass Brass seems to be the best sounding (non-orchestral) horn section CD-ROM that I have found thus far. But I have only seen K.A.B. sold on Samples4.com out of England.

Are there any places in the US that sell Kick Ass Brass?
Can anyone recommend any other brass CD-ROMs?

Okay, I'll pitch in here...

The Quantum Leap Brass can be good at times, though in my opinion it tends to be sort of sterile. But for filling out tracks it and specific things (like trumpet octave swoops and shakes) it can sometimes be the only option.

The low trombones are pretty snappy too.

My other low-tech fave is Killer Horns. Horrible horrible organization of riffs, but a very punchy sound with plenty of attitude. Used carefully and blended with the more generic stuff it's often very effective. It's also my fave Bari Sax sound.

Other than that, I think the market still needs a solid "jazz/pop brass" library.

And just to repeat what you've probably heard already, if you have a choice between $200 for a disc and $300 for a real player for a few hours, HIRE THE REAL THING. I've added session guys on top of my MIDI stuff many times, and even one track of real spit makes a HUGE difference. You'll never regret it...

cheers

I'll second that...the same technique works for strings as well.

Cheers,
Tim
