Using servers to deliver files to clients

Just wondering how this is working out. Would love to hear people's experiences.

it's been great for me, i have taken tracks from a Detroit based guitar player, a NC based vocalist and a Malibu based drummer and it's been awesome to have that flexibility.
Every situation has used a private server, but I hear yousendit is pretty good too.

i have been doing this for the past few months using private ftp. it works great, especially for our clients in europe. they get stuff within hours instead of days via expensive global shipping. the future is now!

I have an ASP-driven upload form on my site (it's hidden, of course). Works fine. My own upstream is SLOOOOOOOW though (asymetric cable -- 256kbps up and 3 mbps down). That said, I no longer take outside audio work as a rule so that's not the issue it might have been in previous years... but I do some video work and just uploading client vids to YouTube gets a little wearisome. I mail or hand deliver DVDs for full-strength vids.)
