Exclamation Dead virtual instruments in Pro Tools 7?

Need some help...

Updating my Pro Tools HD system, which included upgrading OSX and Pro Tools 7.3 (all that went fine... all previous plugs and soft synths played and were fine after update)

When adding a few NEW soft synth purchases, after either installing Kontakt2 or a Kompakt virtual player called "Cult Sampler" a bunch of my previous soft synths will load, appear to function, but NO SOUND.

Thought I'd have to go back and re-install... BUT even when installing a few NEW soft synths, some don't play:

A new install of a synth called "Predator" plays.
Arturia CS-80 does not.
G-Force MiniMonsta does not.

New Kontact 2 plays...

Previous soft synths Novation V-Station, Pro 53, ImpOSCAR and PPG Wave DO NOT.

New Korg digital M1 and Wavestation plays fine.

Please help.

Any ideas?

They don't seem to be one "kind" of software, the ones that play and the ones that don't

HELP APPRECIATED!

check to make sure you are using an actice in on the Inst Track ie make sure it does not ay no input. Check the midi out on the "inst" section of the Instrument tarck it shold be routed to the correct instrument.

try temporarily changing your output. Maybe route it to some aux pair, run it back, and then re-change the output of the virtual instrument tracks.....Also you may want to try and assign an input to it....one of those two options should work for you

WHY? I have no idea....

Good idea, BUUUUT, I can call up some of the other soft synths on that same Pro Tools "Instruments" channel and they work (i.e. sound)...

So, are you suggesting changing the outputs in the instruments themselves or the actual Pro Tools output?

Or just try anyway (which I will, what the hell!)

Thanks you.

More ideas from anyone, please! .....

the actual pro tools outputs...changing then switching back

however for a "instrument" track, you may need to actually assign it an "input".

This has nothing to do with the actual soft instrument's channel internally....just the pro tools input and output assignment

you may need to also confirm your hardware buffer size. it may need to be 1024 or something.

Yes. Good point.

Also, are you running at 96 or 192 by chance?

(I think) some VI's aren't compatible at 96 or 192.

I've had this where on certain synths the channel input needs to be assigned to 1+2 or something else rather than left at the default no input. There was a sticky at the DUC about this i think

Also, while probably not related, make sure "MIDI Thru" is selected in the options menu.
